I gave up on the television series a few years ago, it just felt like it was treading water to me. I know there are many fans of both the television and comic series. I’m a fan of things that other’s wouldn’t understand, so I hope we’re cool. When every episode is described by AMC as “Rick and the gang encounter problems,” maybe it’s time to move on.
That’s what Robert Kirkman has done with the comics. According to USA Today and Kirkman’s own twitter, today’s issue of The Walking Dead will be the last. I won’t spoil it for anyone, but the last two issues have gone up in value for pretty good reasons. Issue #193 hits stores today, and according to a letter to fans within the issue, The Walking Dead has abruptly come to a close.
Details about this issue will more than likely start to leak today. If you’d prefer to not be spoiled, I would recommend being very careful online until the issue is released Wednesday. It’s a big issue in more ways than one. #understatementoftheyear pic.twitter.com/xSAr3EjR75

“This is the end of ‘The Walking Dead.’ That’s it … it’s over … we’re done,” Kirkman wrote. “I’m sure you have a million questions … and I’m sure you feel as emotional about this as we do … if not more so. I’m completely willing to bet some of you are angry over this. I get it … I do. I mean … WHY didn’t we announce this so that fans would have some time to prepare?”
I can’t speak to the series quality as I have not read it. I know that there are people out there that swear by it, but it is certainly not for me. That being said, I completely respect when someone has a long running volume of work. That’s no small feat, so congratulations to Robert Kirkman for such an achievement.
For fans of the show, AMC is promising ten more years of it. I jumped off the show mainly because I didn’t care for the characters that much, and it was becoming just more of the same thing. For fans, however, there is a lot to look forward to. In fact, why don’t you go support your local comic book store and buy this surprise issue.
